Prayer for the Year of Laudato Si’
Loving God, Creator of Heaven, Earth, and all therein contained.
Open our minds and touch our hearts, so that we can be part of Creation, your gift.
Be present to those in need in these difficult times, especially the poorest and most vulnerable. Help us to show creative solidarity as we confront the consequences of the global pandemic. Make us courageous in embracing the changes required to seek the common good. Now more than ever, may we all feel interconnected and interdependent. Enable us to succeed in listening and responding to the cry of the Earth and the cry of the poor. May their current sufferings become the birth-pangs of a more fraternal and sustainable world.
We pray through Christ our Lord, under the loving gaze
of Mary Help of Christians,
Amen.
Laudato Si' is Pope Francis encyclical letter on care for Our Common Home
Dear Families,
I continue to be inspired by the response of the adults in our school community to Remote Schooling; parents and staff are demonstrating a mighty effort. There is clearly a united front as we strive to make the best of a difficult situation for the students (and each other).
As we end the third week of Remote School, I wanted to revisit some key messages for families.
- Make the day work for your family. Aside from Google Meets, there is great capacity for families top adjust times to suit your home.
- The core curriculum areas are Literacy, Numeracy and Religious Education.
- Students are asked to wear their sport shirt or jacket for Google Meets.
- When students are working on technology it is strongly recommended they do so in common areas of the home with parent supervision.
- If you have a problem and can't resolve it at home, let us know so we can help.
- Remote Schooling is not home schooling. Home schooling requires parents/carers to fully develop, implement and assess the curriculum for children. In Remote School, like face to face learning, the curriculum is being planned, implemented and assessed by staff, although this is being done in a very different way than usual.
As was communicated earlier in the week, planned camps and excursions for the remainder of the school year will not be going ahead. This will result in a school fee rebate for families to be processed in the coming weeks. Please note that swimming for Year 1-6 represents a significant part of the excursion levy paid by families.
Any family experiencing financial stress as a result of COVID-19 is asked to contact me to discuss the possibility of interim school fee concessions.
Have a great weekend and stay well,
Nick

Remote Schooling requires a different level of independence for students. When students are unsure of what is required, it may be they are not doing the following three things.
1. Read the planner/question/task
2. Watch the video
3. Make a start
If a student is unsure,
repeat 1 & 2 again and ask:
What am I being asked to do?
It might be helpful for families to have these three visible for students when they are completing their remote schoolwork.
All students should be learning from home during Stage 3 Restrictions. During remote school onsite supervision is available for students as per the guidelines. Families are reminded to only send students to school if it is absolutely necessary.
Families are asked to book students in via the form on the homepage of the website. This week we have had children arrive in the morning who weren't booked in which places additional stress on staffing. Please be sure to book in well in advance (ideally a week) of your child attending.
