Dear Parent, Guardians and Carers,
Congratulations to Charlie Sammut who recently joined the Catholic Church Community by being Baptised. The ceremony was held at St Mary's Cathedral Sale. St Patrick's School wishes Charlie well on your faith journey.
This week at St Patrick’s we have participated in National Child Protection Week. This year the overarching message is, ‘Every child in every community needs a fair go’. This message captures the essence of National Child Protection Week, which aims to promote a safe and supported life for every child, now and into the future.
Throughout the week, each classroom has completed child safety lessons and participated in Australia’s Biggest Child Safety Lesson. The focus of Australia’s Biggest Child Safety Lesson video was on consent. They covered the concepts of my body, my choice and asking permission, and provided strategies that children can use when they need to seek, give or deny consent. The students were really engaged in the video and I’m sure that they learnt a lot. Your child may have questions about a variety of topics covered, so please take the time to discuss these further with them if they ask. The more that your child knows and understands about child safety, the safer they will be.
School Wide Expectations
At St Patrick’s we have 3 School Wide Expectation. Lions Club Public Speaking Competition
Last Thursday evening, Ella Patrick and Will Longmuir represented St Patrick’s at the Lions Club Public Speaking Competition. Ella and Will had won their way through to this event after winning our school-based competition. Both Ella and Will did an amazing job on the night, with Will winning the Grade 3/4 section. Will will now compete at the next stage of the competition in Trafalgar on the holidays.
The School Photographer
Last Tuesday, Luke from The School Photographer visited St Patrick’s. Luke was here to film some of our Grade 1 to Grade 4 students reading an Acknowledgement of Country, that will be published on our school website. The students all enjoyed the experience of being filmed and did an amazing job reading a difficult text from the teleprompt.
Kind regards,
Joel
